Standard paper repository
Student papers will be checked against other institutions' student submissions.
Do not store the submitted papers
A Similarity Report will still be generated for paper submissions, but your students' papers will not be stored in the Turnitin standard paper repository or the institution's paper repository for future comparison.
The following search options allow you to select the Turnitin repositories that student submissions will be checked against when processing Similarity Reports. The similarity score may decrease if a repository option is not selected and may increase if a repository option is selected.
- Student repository
- Website content
- Periodicals, journals, and publications
Exclude bibliographic materials
Exclude text appearing in the bibliography, works cited, or references sections of student papers from being checked for matches when generating Similarity Reports. You can overwrite this setting in individual Similarity Reports. To learn more about Similarity Report interpretation and how this exclusion can help to refine a report, check out our guide.
Exclude quoted materials
Exclude text appearing in the quotes from being checked for matches when generating Similarity Reports. You can overwrite this setting in individual Similarity Reports. To learn more about Similarity Report interpretation and how this exclusion can help to refine a report, check out our guide.
Exclude small sources
You can opt to exclude small sources from the Similarity Report by a set number of words or a percentage. Turnitin looks at the size of a matching source and makes any necessary exclusions based on the threshold specified by you.
