Add Questions and Answers to Your Quiz

Quiz Creatorscreenshot showing the options for quiz question types

Click the start button or select edit an existing quiz, the Quiz Creator screen is displayed.

Use this screen to:

  • select a question type
  • add/delete questions
  • add/delete answers
  • create hints
  • create rationale (aka "why")
  • add links
  • shuffle the order of answers

Note: It is highly recommended that you place your final question close to the end of the video. After every question, the video continues from the point where the video stopped before the question. Placing the final question near the end keeps the user engaged until the video topic is completed.

Create the Quiz Questions and Answers

  1. Play the video or drag the "real-time marker" to the desired point in the video timeline.

  2. Select a question type by clicking on one of the icons. Available question types are:
    • Multiple Choice
    • True/False
    • Reflection Point
    • Open-Ended
  3. Click Add a Question Here and type the question text [3].

  4. Add a link to the question (optional). Update the question title and the URL as desired.
Windows: Enter Ctrl+K or MAC: Command+K

  5. Update the CORRECT Answer Here field [5].

  6. In the Additional Answer Here field [6], enter other possible answers to choose from.  Two answers are mandatory. Click the plus sign to add more answers. (4 answers is the maximum)

  7. Use the Shuffle icon [7] to change the order of the answers presented, or hover over the "three dots" in each answer and manually drag and drop them. Shuffling your answers will ensure that the correct answer is not presented at the same order every time. The correct answer displays a checkmark at the right end of it.

  8. To delete an answer, Click on the "x" near the answer. Note: The correct answer cannot be deleted, only modified.

  9. Add "hints" and "why" (optional): Before you save a question, you may add a hint to the correct answer. Also, when you finalize the quiz, you have the option to include the "why" rationale. [9]
    • Click the light bulb icon, and the hint and why icons are displayed.
    • Click Hint and enter the text for it. Click Apply or Remove.  (If the question has a hint a small ‘V’ icon is displayed.) A hint contains additional information the user can select while answering the question. It does not affect the score or any other behavior or parameter of the IVQ.
    • Click the Why option and enter the explanation. Click Apply or Remove.
The why option appears only at the end of the quiz, and only when the option to "Include Answers" is enabled in the "Scoring" tab. The why is the rationale for the correct answer, which can help explain the reason it is the correct answer.
    • Click Save or Delete. (The question is saved, with the question indicator on the timeline.)
  10. When finished, click done. The Editor screen appears with the quiz questions displayed as cue points on the timeline. In this example, the quiz has 3 questions. The total number of questions is also indicated on top of the timeline.
